One common data source ae 3D faces. You can always combine multiple data sources in order to build a surface, however 3D faces provide the benefit of exactly replicating the triangulation from the 3D faces.
Create new surface
Inputs > 3D Faces. Select and add a layer containing 3D faces
Inputs > Boundary. Select a closed polyline to use as a boundary
