Stringer Topo V23.10 includes fixes and updates in response to customer feedback.

Platform Support

Stringer Topo V23.10 is available for:

  • AutoCAD 2018 to AutoCAD 2023
  • Civil 3D 2018 to Civil 3D 2023
  • BricsCAD V23, BricsCAD V22 and BricsCAD V21

Licensing Information

Stringer Topo V23.10 requires a Civil Survey Solutions V23 license for operation beyond the evaluation period.  All subscription customers automatically receive V23 license keys which can be obtained from the Civil Survey Solutions Customer Centre.

Network License Customers | IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are in the process of changing our licensing system for Stringer Topo to allow greater flexibility for customers in the future. As such, the new Stringer Topo V23 is currently only available as a single user/standalone license.

To enable Stringer Topo customers who have multi user/network licensing to upgrade to Stringer Topo V23, we will provide enough single user/standalone licenses to cover the entire workforce until such time as the multi user/network license is available.

If you are a customer with multi user/network Stringer Topo and would like to upgrade to Stringer Topo V23, please email and he will organise the single user/standalone licenses for you.

Side-by-Side Installation with Previous Stringer Topo Versions

The previous Stringer Topo (Stringer Topo Legacy) has been updated to operate side-by-side with Stringer Topo V23. During installation you will have an opportunity to add the Stringer Topo Legacy ribbon to your installation. This will add the Stringer Topo ribbon and all functionality will be available.

Note that there is a new command included in Stringer Topo Legacy called ‘Enable Dynamics’. In order to maintain performance in Stringer Topo V23, some dynamics have been disabled in Stringer Topo Legacy. If it is intended to use only the legacy tools for a session, you can click Enable Dynamics to turn on all event reactors for the legacy commands.

Migration Resources

Stringer Topo V23 comes with migration tools to facilitate transfer of your current Stringer Topo settings across to Stringer Topo V23. The processes are slightly different between AutoCAD/BricsCAD and Civil 3D users, mainly because AutoCAD/BricsCAD users also manage the COGO point display.

New Features and Improvements

  • Performance enhancements for both Stringer Connect 3D Viewer and the Survey Line Manager
    • Optimised performance to deliver 5 x speed improvement when panning around the drawing, selecting lines and points.
    • Implemented a zoom-scale based label display to improve performance and reduce clutter of labels when zoomed out
    • Auto performance mode is applied based on number of points in the drawing to speed up zooming and panning
  • Stringer Connect
    • Add Files
      • User can now create an empty raw observation file which can be edited as needed 
      • Reinstated selection of a coordinated point file for import and review in Stringer Connect.  Previously only raw observation files could be included.
    • Reduced Coordinates form
      • Added multiple methods for selecting coordinated Points to be included in the drawing.  Can filter points added to the drawing by:
        • Include/Exclude Selected 
        • Include/Exclude by Point Range
        • Include/Exclude by Elevation Range
        • Include/Exclude by Polyline Closed
      • Create a boundary of your points using the ‘Convex Hull’ command
  • Point Styles
    • Blocks in the current drawing can be used for creating a Point Style – previously all blocks needed to be resourced external to the drawing
    • Multiple deletes can now be applied in the Point Styles
    • Point styles are now automatically sorted alphabetically/numerically 
  • Point Code Sets
    • Point code sets has been updated to enable mass editing of point code properties
    • A wildcard (*) can be added/removed to multiple selected rows of data
  • Survey String Settings
    • Survey String Settings has been updated to enable mass editing of survey string properties
    • A wildcard (*) can be added/removed to multiple selected rows of data
    • Implemented an arc-to-chord control for users to manage how curved survey lines are created (both for display and for creation of a surface)
  • Added user settings for both Survey Line Manager and 2D Viewer to manage label display and survey string creation:
    • Performance Mode Count – set a value for the number of points in the drawing to initiate performance mode.  
    • Selection Colour – changes the colour of selected objects within both the 2D viewer and Survey Line Manager 
    • Arc to Chord – set the accuracy between a true curve and the chords created for surface triangulation and survey linework display Label Zoom Level – allows the user to set the level of Zoom for labels to display
    • Label Font Size – sets the font size for the text within Survey Line Manager 
    • Show Point Number/Elevation/Code – set defaults for point label components to display
    • Font Colour – sets how the font colour is managed
    • Back Colour – sets the background colour for the labels 
    • Transparency – sets the transparency percentage for the label Back Colour 
    • Show Marker – toggle on/off the Markers within Survey Line Manager and 2D Viewer 
    • Marker Size – controls the size of the point markers 
    • Marker Colour – sets the colour of the point markers
  • Added a new Cadastral Lines command.  Features include:
    • Supports both bearing/azimuth input and turned angle
    • Quadrant bearing input supported (input is in the format N45E – N/S, then decimal degree, then E/W)
    • Distance unit can be set by the user.  Defaults to Feet for USA customers
    • Elevation can be set as a fixed elevation or as a dynamic reference to the previous point, by grade or elevation difference
    • Cadastral lines can be drawn as 2D and/or 3D polylines on user selected layer
    • Create multiple Groups for traverse lines and side shots can be created.  Each ‘Group’ lists all added traverses and side shots
      • The bearing/turned angle, distance, description, elevation/grade and elevation type can be edited for any point in the list.  
      • The data can be exported to file or added as a table in the drawing
  • Surface Manager
    • Users can now select multiple edits for deletion.  Previously deletes were applied one entry at a time.
  • BricsCAD users
    • COGO points now resize and rotate per viewport, based on the viewport scale and rotation


  • Fixed an issue with Replace Codes not applying
  • In Stringer Connect > Edit Control form the toggle for editing elevations wasn’t functional
  • Rotating a point on a breakline no longer effects edits applied to the surface
  • Description List files created in the Goup Table command no longer become corrupted when saving edits
  • The ‘Auto Number’ function in the Survey Line Manager now operates within Civil 3D
  • Using ‘Datum Shift’ in the ‘Transform Points’ command now correctly updates the point elevation text 
  • String number ‘00’ is no longer considered a valid string number and will not be strung by the software
  • The ‘Delete All Segments’ command found within ‘Survey Line Manager – Utilities’ now correctly deletes all segments over the entered length
  • The ‘Fixed Size’ toggle within Point Styles now correctly stops the block from scaling alongside changes to the annotation scale

Known Issues

  • Starting Import 12da or Import CivilCAD and cancelling the command will have undesired results.
  • After deleting a Subgrade Model, remnants of that model may still display.  Clicking on Refresh in the Subgrade Model Manager form, or closing and reopening the Subgrade Manager form, will resolve the issue.
  • It is possible to open the Subgrade Model Manager form multiple times.  Whilst this doesn’t result in a crash, there may be issues opening some forms from this form, and there could be conflicts between edits applied on the multiply opened forms.
  • Cadastral Lines command
    • If duplicate point numbers are created in a drawing, the software will automatically use one of the duplicates only
    • Mixing traverse lines and side shots will result in the ‘traverse’ polyline being removed up to the first side shot.  It is recommended to separate traverse lines and side shots into different groups
  • After resizing or rotating a viewport, the REGENALL  command needs to be run to update the viewport and point label display.
  • If the user does not set a Point Style within Point Code Set, the default of ‘[User Assign] – 5 Fields’ will be selected. This style is blank and does not show any of the point attributes visually within the drawing if used. This is to alert the user to a mistake in their Point Style Selection.
