Stringer Topo

  • Improvements
    • Civil 3D
      • Added a beta command to enable export and import of Key Description files in Civil 3D, using Excel as the intermediary editor.  This has huge time saving benefits in the mass creation of codes and pre-setting the point style and label style to apply.  To use the command:
        • Type XXX_EXPORT_KDF to export the (one only) Description Key Set to a .csv file
        • Type XXX_IMPORT_KDF to convert the selected .csv file into a Description Key Set in Civil 3D
        • Notes on using this command:
          • The drawing must have only 1 Description Key Set in it – this routine is not set up to work with multiple Description Key Sets in a drawing.
          • Headers must not be edited in the .csv file
          • It is expected that the Point Styles and Label Styles are already set up in the drawing.  Where the names in the .csv file do not match the names in the drawing, the style called ‘Standard’ will be applied
          • The Description Key Set will be named the same as the .csv file imported
  • Spedific changes per ribbon panel/platform are shown below:

Note: Highlighted items have updated icons.  Circled commands are new.

  • New Commands
    • Make Label Static.  If the Auto Label command has been used on lines (not polylines), this will break the association between the text and the line/polyline it was attached to.
    • Offset and Hatch. Offsets a distance from a selected polyline and adds a hatch and offset polyline
Note: You can use a negative value to offset the other side of the polyline.  The offset side is set by the polyilne direction (so a polyine drawn in a clockwise direction will have a positive offset to the left, or outside of, the original polyline, as shown below)
  • Insert Block with Attributes.Streamlines block creation for any block in the drawing dictionary that contains attributes.  Additionally, if you have attributes named EASTING, NORTHING, ELEVATION then you can pick a point in the drawing and apply the x,y,z pickup position to these attributes

  • Known Issues
    • For new installs, the license activation form may not display the product name or the version (it may default to V19.00).  This will resolve upon license activation.
    • Civil 3D
      • For large point data sets, speed of import and updating is still to be improved.  The entire process is being redeveloped to significantly improve import and edit speed for large point data sets.
    • BricsCAD
      • By default the BricsCAD Ribbon interface is not displayed.  You can type RIBBON at the commandline to turn it on, or use the open ribbon command in the Stringer menu
      • If you have points already creaed in the drawing and you use the Point Style Creator to edit the label style for a particular point style, all points in the drawing using that style will have their layer set to the current drawing layer (ignoring the layer as set in Stringer Settings).  If this occurs, run the Stringer Settings command and click on Save and Exit.  This will reinsert the points on the expected layers.
      • If you are upgrading from Stringer Topo V18, you may see a message during startup in the command line about load failing for SA_Stringer.lsp.  This message will have no effect on the operation of Stringer Topo V19, however you can remove the message by following the instructions at this link: https://stringersurvey.com.au/stringer-topo-v19-02-for-bricscad-message-about-unable-to-load-sa_stringer-lsp/
