Adding blocks for ACDC Validation

The Add ACDC Data command (currently this is a keyboard command: ASPEC_ACDC_EDIT_TABLE)will automate the inclusion of ACDC compliant blocks on selected polylines/blocks in the drawing, to enable enumeration of data for saving and uploading to a council that has adopted the ACDC system. 

About ACDC

The ACDC system is 100% reliant upon the user using specific layers (as provided by the Council) and adding attributed blocks to represent ASpec features with geometry coming from polylines (both closed and open) and blocks.  Each council will have an online portal for upload and validation of ASpec compliant drawing files.

New ACDC Command Added

A new command is available in ASpec applications to add ACDC compliant blocks to points, polylines and polygons (closed polylines): ASPEC_ACDC_EDIT_TABLE.

Currently this is in BETA mode and users are welcome to test the functionality.

What the Commmand Does and User Information

This command allows the user to select a line, polyline, point, or block insert to add ACDC data to it. It still uses the current Stringer DSpec/RSpec/OSpec process to store the information on the selected autocad object. However, it places the ACDC block after the table has been filled in.

It is very important to note that the definitions are read from the file ‘ACDC Business Rules for A-SPEC.xlsx’ located in the Stringer Settings/ASpec folder (default locations are:
– AutoCAD and BricsCAD platforms: C:\ProgramData\CSS\Stringer CAD V19\ACDC
– Civil 3D platform: C:\ProgramData\CSS\Stringer V19\ACDC

This file describes the fields required and how they are validated (eg: number, character, list).  This file will be provided to you by the Council, and must be placed in the above location.  The user must ensure that they also use the supplied Council drawing (or drawing template) that contains all the required layers and blocks – the blocks are inserted with block attributes matching to the validation fields as per the ‘ACDC Business Rules for A-SPEC.xlsx’ file.

It is preferred that the user manages this .xlsx file to ensure it is correctly named as per the above and includes all the attributes and validation required for the relevant council. 

Check the format of the included file BEFORE replacing, as you must ensure that the formats match (content obviously is different per Council). The file provided by the council could be called ACDC Validations Rules for A-SPEC.xlsx or something similar. You must renamed it to ‘ACDC Business Rules for A-SPEC.xlsx’ for the software to use it.

If you have not created this file, running the ACDC command will read all of the blocks in the base drawing and save the attributes and descriptions to the excel file ‘ACDC Business Rules for A-SPEC.xlsx’.

Notes:
1. If the user edits the xdata on the autocad object, the existing ACDC block will be erased and a new one inserted.
2. The user must not manually edit the attributes of the inserted ACDC blocks as this will not match with the storage of the data on the enumerated data and result in data errors.
