Our goal with this release was to focus on the feedback we got from users after previous launch of Stringer Survey, which provided a fresh take on the product. Here is a summary of key benefits coming from customer feedback:
- Stringer Settings now allow the user to edit multiple codes at once
- Point Styles are now able to use blocks already loaded into the drawing with ease
- Stringer Connect is able to import to import *.csv, *.txt and *.xcel directly
- Tools have been added to Stringer Connect – Reduced Coordinates to allow further control over the import of Points
- Survey Line Manager and 2D viewer now have a settings interface to control different visual aspects of the viewers
- Addition of the Cadastral Lines Command

Stringer Settings
Previously, each code within Survey String Settings and Point Code set needed to be edited individually. After listening to customer feedback, we have enabled the user to be able to edit multiple codes at once with the ‘Overide Selected Command’.
When you select multiple and click on Override Selected, you can do bulk edits:
You can also add/remove the wildcard (*) from your codes in a similar way. Simply select the codes you wish to apply the wildcard to and select the ‘Add/Remove Asterix’ option.
Point Styles
With the addition of the Multi-Edit select command, you are now able to remove multiple Point Styles from the Point Styles List. As well, we are now sorting the list of Styles by name, so things should be easier to find!
One of our most requested additions, was the ability to add a block directly from the drawing instead of referencing an external *.dwg file. We’ve added a new toggle to support this requirement. For each Point Style, you can now choose between if you want to use an external *.dwg, or if you want to reference a block already located within the drawing.
Stringer Connect
It’s back! You can now add a points file to Stringer Connect. This allows the user to have more control over which Points are brought into the document through the Reduced Coordinate’s option.
Survey String Manager and 2D Viewer | Peformance and Settings
The introduction of the Survey String Manager and the revitalization of the 2D viewer has been a great success. But this hasn’t stopped us from listening to our users ideas. With the new version of Stringer Survey comes the addition of the Settings Tab to Survey String Manager and the 2D viewer. Here you are able to tweak the visulization of the interfaces to your own preferences.
One issue we found was a noticeable drop in performance as the number of points and strings increased. We did lots of work ‘under the hood’ to speed up edits and implemented a new ‘To mitigate this, a new ‘Performance mode’ to speed up rendering once a certain number of points have been exceeded in the project (you get to choose).
We also implemented a Zoom Level for showing/hiding the labels. When you are zoomed out, the labels disappear so you get rid of all that clutter and improve the speed of navigation about the survey. When you zoom in (you get to control the zoom level) you get to see the points to select for editing.
We’ve got a job with thousands of points and it’s really zippy to navigate through and quick to make edits.
Cadastral Lines
Cadastral Lines is a great command to use when manually inputting a traverse into your drawing. Enter your Bearings and Distances quickly and efficiently with this new tool.
We also understand the need for users to sometimes be able to edit the traverse and radiation data after they have entered it. When you create a traverse run or sideshots, you put them into a ‘Group’. The Group is saved and stored in a spreadsheet view, allowing you to review the entered values and edit them on-the-fly.
You can have multiple Groups in your drawing – simply select the group you wish to edit and use the editing table to modify the values.
