What Data is required for ePlan?

What is required for ePlan

  • Accurate field data
  • Data that is mathematically correct
  • Field Data that is closed
  • An understanding of Survey Practises (ePlan)
  • No Bearing and Distances required – just linework

Data from other sources (very important)

If you are bringing in data from another software package in the form of an exported DWG or DXF, the best thing to do is to

  • Copy and paste that data from that drawing into an AutoCAD DWG template that has not been created in say Magnet, CivilCAD, Landmark, 12d etc.

If you don’t do this then some of the functions in your CAD package are going to behave differently to normal

The amount of data sets i get from an outside source with issue is mainly because of this.

If you can the best option would be to create the data in the CAD package from scratch but that is not always going to be the case.

You will be told by the software when it is from an outside source.

AutoCAD Data

  • Add data straight into the drawing using Lines, Offsets, Fillets, Arcs etc.
  • Add Polylines or bpoly’s to the drawing.
  • Lines can be used when using the enumerate segments command
  • Open ended polyline can be used as a parcel for road connections to a corner
  • Open ended polylines can be used as a parcel for adjoining lots which only have 3 sides (make sure you draw them clockwise)
  • Reference Marks – They need to be added as a polyline from Boundary to mark and then using the reverse command reverse the bearing on the polyline as the Validation is only after Mark to Boundary for those reference mark ties.
  • Data in the drawing cannot overlap – BPOLY is the best command to make sure you are not overlapping
  • If using Civil3D or Map3D you can use a function called MAPCLEAN and it will automate cleaning the data you have in the drawing so you can use POLY to create your closed polylines.
  • BPOLY (Boundary Poly) always gets added in anti-clockwise and needs to be clockwise. Stringer ePlan functions tell you when you are doing this.
  • Easements have to be fully closed and separate for each lot e.g. an easement going over 5 lots at the back of a subdivision, these all need to be separate closed polylines.
